Anthony Randazzo
About Anthony Randazzo
Anthony Randazzo was born on 28 September 1965 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Broken Bay, New South Wales, and pursued advanced studies in canon law. He earned a doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and became a specialist in canonical jurisprudence.
He was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Broken Bay in 2014 and later served in various diocesan leadership roles in Australia. He participated in Australian bishops' conference commissions and contributed to canonical matters at the national level. He was appointed Bishop of Broken Bay in 2020.
Pope Leo XIV appointed Randazzo Archbishop and Prefect of the Dicastery for Legislative Texts on 25 March 2026 — a significant appointment that placed an Australian at the head of one of the Church's most specialized curial bodies. The Dicastery interprets and applies the Church's universal laws, resolves questions of canonical interpretation, and assists the universal Church in the correct application of canon law.
